You can add Smooth PDO Threads onto your Thread Lift procedure, which is ideal, since you will already be numb with local anesthetic. Smooth threads do not have any barbs and are not intended to “lift” the skin. Instead, they stimulate precious collagen for firmer, tighter, smoother skin and to help combat fine lines, wrinkles, scars, discoloration, and more.
Please let us know ahead of time if you want to add smooth thread treatment in addition to your PDO Thread Lift.
FAQs
-
A PDO Thread Lift is a non-surgical treatment that addresses mild-moderate laxity (sagging) of the face and neck. It also stimulates new collagen production by triggering an inflammatory response. A PDO thread is a medical grade suture specially designed with barbs along the length of the thread that latches onto the tissue to help lift it up. The threads are broken down by our body into a sugar complex (they are made of polydioxanone) which is what induces collagen stimulation—similarly to prolotherapy, except for the aesthetic benefits.

PDO Threads can be used to treat various areas, including the forehead (for frown lines), lips (to define borders and improve fine lines), under the eyes (for fine lines and skin texture), nose (for reshaping), brows (for lifting), cheeks (for lifting and contouring), and the entire face and neck (for overall skin tightening and lifting).

This treatment is done in the office under local anesthetic for max comfort. It takes about 1-2 hours for the face and/or neck area to be treated. Patients can expect some mild discomfort and soreness in the days to follow and should avoid strenuous exercise or water activities for at least 10-14 days.
Results are instant, but settle beautifully in approximately 4-6 weeks. Improvements continue over the next several months as your body creates new collagen. This is evident by tighter, firmer, smoother skin, and a younger, healthier, glowing complexion.
Results from a Thread Lift last approximately 18 months to 2 years. Repeat treatment can be done at 9-12 months to enhance the previous outcome.
Most patients are able to return to work (depending on their job) by the next day and OTC pain relievers can be used to manage any soreness from the procedure. The first 24-48 hours, you will want to take Extra Strength Tylenol around the clock. You can continue this as needed thereafter. After 1 week, most of the discomfort (tightness, soreness, pressure, sporadic “zingers”) has subsided. Week 2-4 it is normal to experience sporadic twinges or feel/hear clicks or pops as the threads settle into the tissue further.
We recommend avoiding ice or NSAIDs following the treatment as it can prolong healing and also suppress the inflammatory response that is vital to neocollagenesis. If you absolutely have to supplement your Tylenol intake with Ibuprofen and the like, please do so, but only if it’s warranted.

The results of PDO Thread treatments can last from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type of threads used and the treatment area. Smooth threads, such as those used for fine lines and skin texture improvement, typically last around 6-9 months, while lifting threads used for areas like the cheeks and neck can provide results that last up to 2 years. Maintenance treatments are recommended to sustain the results.

A PDO Thread Lift does not prevent you from having facial surgeries in the future. The threads gradually dissolve and disappear over 8-10 months. Any new collagen from the treatment itself is long lasting based on your natural aging process.
